Pega Developer (UX Specialist) - Contract Role

The Project
A large government agency is implementing a multi-stream Digital Solution for a key system affecting millions of people. As part of this, the Digital Portfolio Team is leading the Pega forms development stream, focusing on digitising and modernising associated processes.
The Role
The Senior Pega Developer (UX Specialist) will design, develop, and implement solutions within the Pega platform for this transformation project. This role will be hands-on, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including the BAU and Product teams, to drive technical innovation, automation, and future-proofing of this essential platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement Pega Rules Process.
- Ensure all development aligns with Pega Best Practices, Guardrails, and security standards.
- Build scalable, high-quality, and responsive user interfaces while ensuring accessibility.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve technical issues, providing root cause analysis and performance optimisations.
- Participate in code reviews, system documentation, and process improvements.
- Work within an agile, multidisciplinary team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Pega development (Pega 7.x & 8.x), including Case Management, Data Management, and UI development.
- Strong knowledge of Pega Rules, including Activities, Flows, Declaratives, Decisions, Validations, Reports, and UI components.
- Experience with Pega Cloud, Pega Decisioning, and frameworks like Smart Dispute, KYC, and Collection Frameworks.
- Proficiency in debugging tools such as Tracer, Clipboard, SMA, and Live UI.
- Strong understanding of Pega architecture, including Enterprise Class Design, Application Layering, Data Modelling, and Rule Resolution.
- Experience integrating Pega with REST-based services.
- Familiarity with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) and database modelling.
- Bonus: Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, and XML.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a busy environment.
