Background:
The Joint Command and Control System Program Office (JC2SPO), part of the Joint Systems Division (JSD) within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), seeks Technical Specialists to support critical software and hardware essential for operational situational awareness capabilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the ongoing data integrity and system availability of the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Maritime and GCCS-Joint, which are instrumental in providing the Maritime Common Tactical Picture to the Navy.

Job Description:
The Technical Specialists will leverage deep technical expertise to ensure compliance and integrity within the GCCS capability. Responsibilities include planning, leading, developing, integrating, managing, and evaluating Defence capability. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to deliver complex technical solutions in a high-pressure environment. Additionally, Technical Specialists will assess and ensure that delivered capabilities meet Defence requirements within established policy, legislative, and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and execute complex technical activities and solutions as directed by the Commonwealth.
  2. Engage stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions across multifaceted problem domains.
  3. Evaluate technical solutions to ensure alignment with Defence requirements and standards.
  4. Maintain understanding of security and safety requirements in a Defence environment.
  5. Analyze data flows, write reports, manage workflows, and allocate resources effectively.
  6. Mentor and motivate technical support teams to achieve project objectives.
Primary Functionalities:
  • Databases: Oracle
  • Operating Systems: Windows 10, Server 2016+, Solaris 11.x
  • Infrastructure Services: Data centers, switches, servers, workstations (thick clients, thin clients), NAS, SANs, Cloud (Azure), Satellite COMMS (UHF TDMA/DAMA Radios), encryption devices, LAN, WAN
  • Virtualization: Windows Hyper-V, Solaris 11.x Virtualization
  • Devices – Hardware: X86 and SPARC based systems, Bespoke MOTS Joint Range Extension Servers
  • Server – Hardware: Windows Server 2016+, Oracle Solaris Netra T4, Joint Range Extension Servers
  • Storage: RAID, NAS, SANs
  • Network: Ethernet TCP/IP, UHF
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a technical specialist role, preferably within a Defence environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle databases, Windows and Solaris operating systems, and infrastructure services.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (Windows Hyper-V, Solaris Virtualization).
  • Familiarity with network protocols (Ethernet TCP/IP, UHF) and storage solutions (RAID, NAS, SANs).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders effectively.
  • NV1 Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one is mandatory.
