Job Description:
A large federal government department is seeking Data Engineers to join its Enterprise Analytics section. The successful candidates will work across several data and analytics platforms, focusing on developing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes, and/or creating data products and complex data visualizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, Development, and Unit Testing: Engage in various data movement, data transformation, and data visualization processes.
- Data Preparation: Prepare data for decision-making processes, utilizing modern cloud technology (Azure) for operational analytics.
- Data Integration and Storage: Work with technologies such as Data Factory, SQL Server Integration Services, Databricks, SQL Server, and Data Lake Storage.
- Analytics and Development Tools: Utilize tools like Azure Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, ArcGIS Enterprise, DevOps, Visual Studio, and VS Code.
- Data Visualisation: Create visualizations using Power BI, transforming complex data sets into meaningful insights.
- Experience with ETL/ELT Processes: Demonstrated experience in developing ETL/ELT processes for large and complex data movement, transformation, and visualizations, particularly in a cloud environment. The section supports flexible arrangements, with consideration for individual and collaboration needs, including attendance at key Agile ceremonies and team events. (50%)
- Optimized Data Preparation: Experience in preparing data optimized for query performance in cloud computing engines (e.g., Distributed computing engines like Spark, Graph Databases, Azure SQL). (25%)
- Cloud Infrastructure Services: Experience with engineering, storage, and analytics services in cloud infrastructure. (25%)
- Experience working with Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
- Knowledge and experience with Data Lake and Lakehouses.
