Project: Navy Fleet Battle Lab
Overview:
Join the team as an L3 Network Technician and play a pivotal role in supporting the Navy Fleet Battle Lab through the development and implementation of advanced simulation software and network solutions. Based at Williamtown RAAF, NSW, you will work with the Distributed Training Centre (DTC) to enhance the capabilities of Navy training systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge military simulation technologies with potential future relocation to Sydney in July 2025 for installation and setup.
Responsibilities:
- Configuration Management: Establish a configuration baseline to integrate the DTC into the Exercise network efficiently.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support for complex engineering systems, including simulation software and network components.
- System Integration: Integrate components, systems, and sub-systems, including new acquisitions.
- System Architecture: Undertake system modeling and develop architecture using digital tools.
- Documentation: Maintain configuration status and documentation, including baselining documentation and system configurations.
- Change Management: Implement change management policies to ensure successful updates to network infrastructure.
- System Modifications: Modify system architecture, including hardware, software, and network protocols, to enhance capabilities.
- System Administration: Perform system administrator tasks such as failure mode analysis, resolution, and operator access management.
- Support & Maintenance: Provide support for service pack releases, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
- Test & Evaluation: Facilitate and coordinate testing to support integration across multiple Defence Units and coalition partners.
- ICT Security: Maintain ICT Security accreditation in line with ISSM requirements.
- Exercise Support: Deliver engineering and technical support for synthetic and blended exercises, including off-hours work to align with US time zones.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and capacity to ensure reliability and availability.
- Obsolescence Management: Identify and resolve obsolescence issues promptly.
- Coaching & Mentoring: Provide support and advice to RAAF personnel and other system users.
- Bachelor’s Degree: Software Engineering or a related field.
